DIVISION 4 LEAGUE

On Saturday evening last we travelled to Aughavas to play their second team in the Division 4 league.  We were short a number of our players due to exams and injuries.  The first half was well balanced and we went in on level terms at half time.  We dominated the first 15 minutes of the second half and 2 great goals from Thomas Coyle put us in a position to win the game.  However an injury to our full back Michael Poniard who was playing very well gave the initiative back to Aughavas and they finished very strong to win by a single point.  Best wishes to Michael for a speedy recovery and we also wish to thank the Aughavas physio and mentors who gave us assistance.

DIVISION 4 LEAGUE

On Saturday evening last our third team travelled up to Carrigallen to take on their second team in the Division 4 League.  The weather was lovely and Carrigallen’s facilities were excellent.  We started the game well but as the first half wore on we were finding it very difficulty to cope with the pace and movement of Carrigallen.  We were very lucky to be going in at half time on level terms.  Carrigallen raced in to a 3 point lead early in the second half but by that stage we had increased our work rate considerably and finished out the game playing some great football to record a victory on the scoreline 2-11 to 0-13.  Four of our team, Patrick Loughlin, Killian McGriskan, Cian McManus & Ronan Flynn are still only 16 years of age and are showing great potential.  Our next game is at home to Aughnasheelin on Sunday in the Bee Park.  Team & Scorers: P Loughlin, K McGriskan, J. MINOR TEAM NEWS

We travelled up on Sunday morning last to play St. Manachan's in the second round of the 15 aside Minor League. At the end of a good game we lost out to the Mohill/Eslin combination on the score line 2-11 to 1-10. We played our best football in the first half and deservedly led by two points at half-time. After the break St. Manachan's started to get a firm grip around the middle of the field and gradually turned the game in their favour. However we finished very strong and were unlucky not to get something out of the game. Injuries to a number of players left us with a small squad on the day. S. McPartland, A Gilligan, K McGriskan, C. O'Connor, C. McManus, D. Skimin, N. McLoughlin, P. Loughlin, D McWilliams, R. Flynn, M McGourty, J. Rooney, N. Brady, D. McNulty, A. Curran, K, Kerrigan, C. McDermott, M. McDermott, B. Rooney, K Clerkin.

In a busy weekend our second team played Cloone in the Bee Park. A great day for football with the sun shining down, the visitors went in at half time with a one point lead on 0-6 to 0-7. It was point for point almost for the first 15 minutes of the second half until a long range free effort from Aaron Hickey hovered over the goal mouth and was converted well by Mark Reilly. This was soon followed by a second yellow card for one Cloone player and we were able to build on this lead. Some good displays all round with some fine scores from Evan Sweeney and Aaron Hickey. Team & Scorers: C. Gilligan, S. Loughlin, S Devaney, J. Fox, I Feeney, S. Kerrigan, G. Hickey, C. McEneaney, A Hickey (0-5), M. Reilly (1-0), S. Watters, S. O'Hara, B. McDonald (0-1), A. HURLING NEWS

Well done to our senior hurlers on their 02nd win in the Ulster League against the visiting Aodh Ruadh of Ballyshannon. With our Senior footballers in action in Aughawillan the hurlers were missing a good few dual players, but fair play to the younger hurlers who held on for a fantastic victory. It was a tough battle throughout the 60 minutes. Manor were 3 points behind at half time but showed great character to come from behind and win on a score line of 3-04 to 2-06. Gary Hickey rifled a 21 yard free into the top corner to win the game in the last minute. J Rooney, D Ryan, R O'Snodaigh put in great displays in the forward line while Patrick Clerkin, S Feeney & Captain C Phibbs worked tirelessly in defence. We now face Knock Grattan's of Fermanagh next Saturday away. Team & Scorers: C Cullen, G. McSharry, C.
